YASSEEN ELASSAR

I was born in Abu Dhabi to Egyptian parents from Alexandria, and grew up moving through Egypt, India, Colombia, France, and now Texas. Living between so many places shaped the way I see people, culture, and design. It taught me that there are endless ways to live, think, make, solve, celebrate, and care about things — and that the most interesting ideas usually come from paying attention to those differences. My creative side started early, influenced by my mom’s love for painting, cooking, and fashion, while my dad’s restless problem-solving and interest in technology helped point me toward design as a way to connect creativity, systems, and real-world problem solving. I recently graduated with a degree in Communication Design and a minor in Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

As a designer, I’m drawn to the full process: research, observation, synthesis, visual craft, and the moment when scattered ideas finally become something real. Studying Innovation & Entrepreneurship pushed me to think beyond the artifact itself — toward opportunity, strategy, and how ideas become useful in the real world. I’m most interested in the space between insight and execution: unfamiliar problems, overlooked details, and connections that don’t seem obvious at first.

Outside of design, I draw, cook passionately, work on my car, lift, and spend as much time outside as I can. I stay curious about the forces shaping the world — business, technology, culture, conflict, and the environment — and I’m drawn to movies and shows that actually make me feel something. I’m interested in anything with personality, friction, emotion, and a point of view — whether that’s a brand, a meal, a car, place, or person.
